The Hub for Teaching and Learning Excellence, the Community Engaged Scholarship Institute, the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics, and the Kinross Chair in Environmental Governance are co-hosting a lunch and learn session about the trends and opportunities in the world of strategic evaluation. Program evaluation – the use of social research approaches to make evidence based decisions about programs – is changing in complex ways. Guest speakers will share how evaluation can be utilized to inform research excellence and academic programs.

Scholars at Risk (SAR) is a global network that advocates for academic freedom worldwide and connects vulnerable scholars with universities seeking to host them. Dr. Evren Altinkas is the first visiting professor who has joined the University of Guelph through the SAR network. In this lecture, he will provide comparative historical insights about academics in Europe, North America, and the Middle East to address the issue of academic freedom.

Students will share an experience where they were challenged to “rethink the human” by centering on the lives and experiences of queerness, disability, people of colour, fatness, and other marginalized bodies to meaningfully engage theoretical and applied learnings in the classroom environment.

Join us for an interactive session with Mr. Vikas Swarup, High Commissioner of India to Canada In a career spanning more than 30 years, Mr.Swarup has served in diplomatic assignments in Ankara, Washington DC, Addis Ababa, London, Pretoria and Osaka­Kobe. After serving as Joint Secretary United Nations (Political), he was appointed the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs in April 2015 in which capacity he was serving till being appointed as the High Commissioner of India to Canada.
