3MT College Heat

3MT is a university-wide competition for graduate students in which participants present their research, creative activity, and its wider impact in 3 minutes or less to a panel of non-specialist judges. The challenge is to present complex research in an engaging, accessible and compelling way, using only one slide. CSAHS's College Heats will be held on March 6th from 10am-noon. ALL participants will get a $25.00 gift card and a free lunch. In addition, the top 3 finalists will receive cash prizes (1st place - $500.00, 2nd place - $250.00, and 3rd place $150.00).

Hack the Farm: the Improve Life Challenge 2020

The Improve Life Challenge: Hack the Farm is a one-day immersive experience where interdisciplinary student teams work together with community partners to tackle real problems and come up with possible solutions. At the end of the day, teams present their solutions in a pitch-style competition.

International Women's Day Conference - Research and Revolt

The Research Facility for Women's Health and Wellbeing (Psychology Department) is hosting a FREE two-day conference in honour of International Women's Day 2020, where researchers from across Ontario can present their work on women's issues. This conference will showcase interdisciplinary research related to women and women's issues (e.g. women's health and wellbeing, violence against women, etc.) Attendees can come and go as they wish. (Re)Discover India Through Films

Watch Deepa Mehta's 'Cooking with Stella' This is the first in a specially curated series of video presentations (re)introducing India in all its diversity. Cooking with Stella (104 min.) was selected by Vijay Nair, University of Guelph, Executive Chef. Vijay hails from Kerala, India. He worked in various hotels and cruise ships before joining the University in 2011 to lead the kitchen team. Vijay will introduce the film and happily answer questions about the film and (Indian) cooking post-screening.

2020 Derry Dialogues: One Health

This year, the Derry Dialogues will focus on One Health with the objective to instill an understanding of One Health through the examples of a range of speakers from a wide variety of disciplines. The speakers will address One Health approaches to: Emerging global threats of antimicrobial resistance and infectious diseases Working at the veterinary and medical interface in East Africa Environmental change due to anthropogenic early life stresses in wildlife

Microaggressions in the Classroom

Learn how to identify, prevent and respond to microaggressions Microaggressions can have a significant and cumulative impact on students but can be difficult to recognize and address in the moment. Participants will leave this session with some practical recommendations on how to identify, prevent and respond to microaggressions and implement this learning into their work and classrooms.
