As faculty, we face a range of stressful circumstances, frequently resulting in experiences of burnout.  At the same time, we enjoy challenging yet positive experiences in the advancement of our academic careers. Some of us need to regain the energy lost in the process, others need to figure out a way to obsess less about work, and still others aim to balance having a fulfilling and enriching life with generating a real and significant impact through their work.

  Ensuring accessible and sustainable forms of experiential learning Experiential learning presents unique opportunities and challenges for students. The experiences of students with disabilities reveals a complex relationship between ability and engagement across various forms of experiential learning.

3MT is a university-wide competition for graduate students in which participants present their research, creative activity, and its wider impact in 3 minutes or less to a panel of non-specialist judges. The challenge is to present complex research in an engaging, accessible and compelling way, using only one slide. CSAHS's College Heats will be held on March 6th from 10am-noon. ALL participants will get a $25.00 gift card and a free lunch. In addition, the top 3 finalists will receive cash prizes (1st place - $500.00, 2nd place - $250.00, and 3rd place $150.00).

The Improve Life Challenge: Hack the Farm is a one-day immersive experience where interdisciplinary student teams work together with community partners to tackle real problems and come up with possible solutions. At the end of the day, teams present their solutions in a pitch-style competition.

The Research Facility for Women's Health and Wellbeing (Psychology Department) is hosting a FREE two-day conference in honour of International Women's Day 2020, where researchers from across Ontario can present their work on women's issues. This conference will showcase interdisciplinary research related to women and women's issues (e.g. women's health and wellbeing, violence against women, etc.) Attendees can come and go as they wish. Inspired by the agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals, this project investigates how those who are the hardest to reach – the world’s poor, the geographically remote, those who are socially, culturally and politically marginalized – can be effectively included in global development efforts.
