Ring in the holiday season at the 2017 Merry Maker Night Market on Dec 20th! From 4-9pm, the Guelph Farmers’ Market will host a variety of regular and new vendors selling seasonal produce, local meat and cheese, preserves, artisan crafts, baked goods, holiday beverages, and handmade gifts will be stationed inside the Guelph Farmers’ Market.  The back packing lot will host a festive outdoor pavilion. Picnic tables and outdoor heaters will be set up for guests to sit and enjoy fare from 4 amazing local food trucks!

Photo by Chris Seto/Mercury Tribune A menorah lighting event will be held at City Hall in celebration of the Jewish festival of lights on Thursday December 14 with music and Jewish holiday treats.

Set for the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Guelph Civic Museum, this lecture series will feature topics about nation building. Presented in partnership between Guelph Museums and the University of Guelph. Dec. 13, Professor James Raffan presents “Canada One Five Oh Em Gee: Celebration of nation and community in story and song”.

Premiering this year, the Christmas Village Market. This market will come alive within the distinct old world charm of Old Quebec Street Shoppes. A family friendly event to include vendors that handcraft unique high quality items, food, music, a mini makers market and a special guest appearance by Santa himself! Thursday Dec. 7th & Friday December 8th 4pm-8pm Saturday Dec. 9th 10am - 6pm Sunday Dec. 10th 11am-5pm  

The U of G community is invited to attend a memorial for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, Dec. 6 to commemorate the 14 female engineering students who were killed at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal on Dec. 6, 1989. Campus flags will be at half-mast in memory of the 14 women who lost their lives.

International Students are invited to attend the 18th Annual International Students Holiday Dinner at the Village by the Arboretum. You will have the opportunity to mingle with the community in Guelph and share traditions in the holiday spirit through food and performances.  Students will receive an invitation and more information in November. We are letting you know early so you can reserve the date to come and celebrate this holiday season. Transportation will be provided for students to get to the event location from the UC.
