Winegard Lecture - The Future is Female

Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie will present the 2018 Winegard Visiting Lectureship on International Development Jan. 22. Minister Bibeau will present her lecture titled “The Future is Female: Canada’s first feminist international assistance policy.”

POLS Speaker Series - Framed: Media and the Coverage of Race in Canadian Politics

In a lecture on her award-winning book, Erin Tolley (University of Toronto) argues that race influences electoral news coverage and politics in Canada. Dr. Tolley shows that racial minority politicians receive more negative and less prominent media coverage than their white counterparts. She argues that this is a function of racialized assumptions, institutional biases, and organizational norms that undermine Canada’s commitment to inclusive democracy.

Winter Adventure Days will get the kids outside enjoying the outdoors. Activities may include snow shoeing, crazy carpeting, snow sculpture building, hiking, shelter building and animal tracking (depending on weather conditions). These programs feature nature-themed activities and adventures through hikes, games, seasonal crafts and activities. Participants actively go outside daily to explore the fields and forests that surround our nature centres. Our goal is to introduce your child to a lifetime of appreciation for the natural world that sustains us all.

A Charlie Brown Christmas is an Emmy Award-winning holiday tradition enjoyed by children everywhere. Join us at the Guelph Youth Music Centre this holiday season as we present this jazz classic featuring Adam Bowman, Thomas Hammerton, and Tyler Wagler and The Kingsbury Music Singers.

We at Happy Healthy Women are so thrilled to be bringing our fabulous networking sessions to Guelph! Amazing things happen when a group of like-minded women take the time to come together and connect and share their energy. It is in this type of setting that we lift each other up, and often times we learn something about ourselves and our businesses that may have been just hiding beneath the surface. It is a space where we experience personal revelations and our momentum begins to take off! We will take some time to introduce ourselves, our businesses, and our missions.

Merry Maker Night Market 2017

Ring in the holiday season at the 2017 Merry Maker Night Market on Dec 20th! From 4-9pm, the Guelph Farmers’ Market will host a variety of regular and new vendors selling seasonal produce, local meat and cheese, preserves, artisan crafts, baked goods, holiday beverages, and handmade gifts will be stationed inside the Guelph Farmers’ Market.  The back packing lot will host a festive outdoor pavilion. Picnic tables and outdoor heaters will be set up for guests to sit and enjoy fare from 4 amazing local food trucks! 

Menorah Lighting

Building Canada Lecture: James Raffan presents "Canada One Five Oh Em Gee: Celebration of nation and community in story and song"

Set for the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Guelph Civic Museum, this lecture series will feature topics about nation building. Presented in partnership between Guelph Museums and the University of Guelph. Dec. 13, Professor James Raffan presents “Canada One Five Oh Em Gee: Celebration of nation and community in story and song”.
