The Body Project

The Body Project is a workshop that aims to promote positive body image, reduce body shaming and encourage women to accept themselves as they are. Participants must attend both sessions. Email mfarqu02@uoguelph.ca to register. Refreshments will be provided! 

CANCELLED: Senator Kim Pate presents the 2018 Truscott Lecture in Justice

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE OF JUSTICE LOOK LIKE? Guest speaker Senator Kim Pate discusses the future of Canada’s legal and penal system. Kim Pate was appointed to the Senate of Canada on November 10, 2016. First and foremost, the mother of Michael and Madison, she is also a nationally renowned advocate who has spent the last 35 years working in and around the legal and penal systems of Canada, with and on behalf of some of the most marginalized, victimized, criminalized and institutionalized — particularly imprisoned youth, men and women.

All employers at the fair have active job positions on Recruit Guelph and are attending to meet with applicants face-to-face to answer any questions. Better Sleep Program

Learn how to decrease insomnia, fall asleep (or back to sleep) more easily, and get more energy from sleep using proven, drug-free strategies.  This five-session program meets at noon on Fridays, from noon to 1 p.m.  An online program is also available.  The fee is $20 for U of G students, $25 for members of USW Local 4120, and $50 for all others.

Relaxation & Stress Management Skills

  « Animal Tracking Workshop Better Sleep Program » --> Learn to relax tight muscles, calm anxiety, settle a busy brain, cope effectively and have more energy.  This skills training program meets twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, for 12 sessions  over six weeks. The noon group meets in University Centre, Room 334 from 12 – 1 p.m.

Restrained by Design: The Political Economy of Cybersecurity

The empirical record of cyberattacks features computer crime, espionage and hacktivism, but none of the major damage feared in prevalent narratives. Jon Lindsay (Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto) combines insights from international relations theory and new institutional economics to argue for an understanding of cyberspace as a complex global institution. Professor Lindsay’s approach highlights the important advantages of strong states over the weaker non-state actors widely thought to be empowered by cyberspace.
