SSHRC's Top 25 Storytellers - CSAHS PhD candidate Abhilash Kantamneni

Abhi partners with communities to research the governance and diffusion of energy transitions.

Martha Billes Named University of Guelph’s Ninth Chancellor

Martha Billes, CSAHS Alumna, Canadian icon and philanthropist has been named the University's next chancellor.  Billes is the controlling shareholder of Canadian Tire Corp. (CTC) Ltd., and is the first U of G graduate to be named chancellor of the University

"Martha Billes fought long and hard to establish herself as one of the most successful leaders in Canada, shattering sterotypes along the way," said U of G president Franco Vaccarino.

SlutWalk Guelph Rallies Against Rape Culture, Victim Blaming and Slut Shaming

Slutwalk Guelph is one of many similar events held across the country to take a stand against rape culture, victim blaming, slut shaming and supporting survivors.  

CSAHS Family Relations and Applied Nutrition professor Dr. Ruth Neustifter spoke to roughly 100 people who turned out to listen to speakers in St. Georges Square before parading with signs throughout Downtown Guelph.  

Debating the Pros and Cons of Guelph being a 100% Renewable Energy City

CSAHS Geography professor, Dr. Kirby Calvert was a part of the debate of whether Guelph should be a 100% renewable energy city Friday night.  The event was organized by eMERGE Guelph and the University's Community Engaged Scholarship Institute at St. Georges Church hall.   

Ontario Attorney General to Give Truscott Lecture March 27th.

Challenging the status quo will be the focus of Ontario’s attorney general during the annual Truscott Lecture in Justice March 27 at the University of Guelph.

Yasir Naqvi, who oversees the justice system in Ontario, will focus on pretrial delay in criminal cases during this free lecture.

When Guelph sex-researcher and media-celebrity sexologist Robin Milhausen was coming of age in Collingwood, it was her father who delivered the birds and bees talk to her. Perhaps foreshadowing the arresting candour his child would come to develop for talking publicly about sexuality and relationships, Ford Milhausen served it up matter-of-factly. “He said: ‘Every guy is going to want to have sex with you. You’re going to have to pick the right one. Or ones,’ ” Milhausen recalls.
