Dr. Ian Brodie a renowned Canadian political scientist and professor at the University of Calgary will join the Department of Policical Science to speak to a "Year in the Life of Parliament."

Dr. Ian Brodie - Professor in the Department of Political Science and a Fellow at the Centre for Military, Security and Strategic Studies at the University of Calgary. He is also Program Director at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, a Fellow of the Halifax International Security Forum, and Chair of the Research Committee at the Institute for Research on Public Policy.

Brodie was Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Canada from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, he worked as Executive Director of the Conservative Party of Canada and as Chief of Staff to the Opposition Leader. Brodie returned to campus in 2013 after four years with the InterAmerican Development Bank.  

 

Brodie has worked at the highest level of politics and public policy as a senior member of the team that created the Conservative Party of Canada and propelled Stephen Harper into the Prime Minister's Office. Combining his academic training and political experience, he wrote At the Center of Government, an Amazon.ca bestseller in politics. 

Brodie continues to contribute to conservative political thinking and organizing in addition to his duties at the University of Calgary. In 2022, he served as Chair of the Conservative Party's Leadership Election Organizing Committee.  Read more about Dr Ian Brodie
