A Public Discussion of Anti-Racism at Guelph Institute of Development Studies

With its Statement of Solidarity and the formation of the Anti-Racism Working Group in June 2020, the Guelph Institute of Development Studies (GIDS) set out on a path of understanding and reckoning. With the release of A Path Forward: Anti-Racism Working Group Report, the Guelph Institute of Development Studies (GIDS) invites the GIDS community to join a public discussion of the report’s Calls to Action and the important next steps for creating a more inclusive, safe, equitable and anti-racist place for GIDS students, staff and faculty.

You will hear that the report documents how racism and discrimination negatively impact the lives of Black, Indigenous and racialized students, staff and faculty within GIDS and the broader university. The public release of this report brings one phase of this process to a conclusion, and it is certainly an important first step.
