Details
For 10 years, CESI’s Research Shop has trained graduate student researchers to work with community organizations, supporting them to design and implement research that addresses community-identified priorities. We invite you to join us as we mark this milestone with a symposium exploring practical approaches to community-university collaboration and ground-level impacts of the work done through the Research Shop.
At this symposium, CESI staff will share the findings of recent research about the Research Shop’s impacts for community organizations’ practices and student researchers’ learning and professional development. International Science Shop experts Emma McKenna (Queen’s University Belfast) and Henk Mulder (University of Groningen) will deliver an engaging keynote, and two multidisciplinary panels will explore the impacts of Research Shop collaboration and articulate the varying ways in which collaborators build and sustain productive relationships. Additional knowledge, research outputs, and stories of experience will be shared via digital stories and research posters.
Drs. McKenna and Mulder will also be leading a workshop on Thursday, November 7th for those interested in honing their community-university collaboration practices, Science Shop mandates, and approaches to similar work; more details to follow.
We are looking forward to connecting with staff, faculty, students, alumni and community – this event will be open to all and will be offered free of charge.
