Welcolming Vikas Swarup, High Commissioner of India to Canada, who will speak about the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi in the 21st century.
Mr. Swarup's talk, titled Gandhi and the Quest for Truth [1] will examine Gandhi’s concept of truth and the impact of social media and fake news in today’s world. Using examples from Gandhi’s own life and his experiments with truth, the talk will highlight the importance of the individual self at the heart of all political enterprise and public life. It will also touch upon elements of Mahatma Gandhi’s environmental philosophy, his model for sustainable development and the basis of his ideal society Sarvodaya.
