The vision to provide an innovative, collaborative space where “social innovation benefits extend to inclusion, education, connection, collaboration, creativity and new ways of solving challenges.” Julia Grady, Co-Founder and Executive Director, 10 Carden (10C)

10C is a community hub and shared working space in a beautifully renovated four-story building spanning 15,000 sq. ft. overlooking Carden and Macdonell street in downtown Guelph. Having recently moved last summer, this not-for-profit enterprise, which focuses on bringing together like minded organizations with the core objective of creating change through collaboration and innovation, now occupies a space with an arts-lounge area, a heritage board room, an activity room suited for workshops, various office spaces, as well as a community classroom perfect for any large event.

The Community Engaged Scholarship Institute (CESI) has had a long-term partnership with 10C and, with the expansion project, is excited to invite our various partners in the college to take advantage of this privileged access. With 10C’s large community classroom/event room which holds 150 people, can be used for regularly scheduled courses, events/conferences, and training/workshops/presentations. There are also large and small meetings rooms to house research team meetings or meetings with off-campus partners as well as working space with 2 part-time desks in a co-working environment, ideal for project coordinators or graduate students.

Together with CESI, the college is also excited to present some of the college finest community-related research in a poster exhibit in 10Cs arts lounge. A bright inviting foyer, with a wall of windows, presents an excellent platform for things like these exhibitions as well as public engagement initiatives. We welcome you to come by to relax, meet with friends and co-workers and enjoy the exhibit over the next few weeks.

While you are there, we encourage you to tour the space and keep it in mind for any projects, meetings or events you may have in the future. It is truly a unique atmosphere built for collaboration and innovation.

The space would be provided in-kind through the CESI/10C Partnership agreement. If you’d like to see the space, or book a room at 10C, you can contact Melissa MacKay, Knowledge Mobilization Coordinator (CESI) at melissam@uoguelph.ca [1] or at ext. 53714.
