Professor Gross researches and teaches criminal law and procedure, with a focus on federal laws and policies governing Tribal Nations’ exercise of criminal jurisdiction within the United States. Her Fulbright work centers on a comparative analysis of the extent to which Canada and the United States make room for Indigenous justice norms in their legal systems. In her talk, Professor Gross will discuss the connection between Indigenous self-determination and safety in federal settler colonial legal systems.
