This FREE one-day virtual conference, titled “Honouring International Women’s Day 2022: Research, Recognize & Reimagine” is meant to showcase research that celebrates achievements of women and/or brings awareness to gender-based disparities, with an emphasis on BIPOC futurities and intersectionality.
The conference will feature excellent keynote speakers, student presentations and feminist entertainment!
- Layla Staats shares her experiences defending the water in the Wet’suwet’en Territory, and the importance of unity, especially as women, in empowering ourselves and in defending our truths.
- Kween explores the shift from Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, to Violence, Harm and Oppression and looks to a more intersectional lens that is uncomfortable and supports experiences that BIPOC communities are facing.
- Dr. Srinivasan presents a conversation about her research spanning 25 years on daughter discrimination in India and Canada, root causes of such discrimination, and the emergence of daughter preference.
