When we think of homelessness we often think of urban areas, however, Sociology and Anthropology professor, Bill O'Grady, finds homelessness is even more widespread in rural and northern Ontario. Homelessness in rural and northern communities is less visable and described as "hidden" due to supports and services that aren't accessed. O'Grady's study also identifies the types of issues that people with homelessness exerpeince such as addictions, discrimination, living expenses, institutionalization, unemployment and loss of social networks.
