The Summer 2020 Teaching and Learning Webinar Series, co-led by the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences (CSAHS) and the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics (LANG), will kick off soon! In the first webinar of this series, we are inviting instructors to share their experiences as they transitioned from traditional delivery to an alternative course delivery format in the Winter 2020 semester.

This session will explore and debrief the good, the bad, and the ugly of instructors’ experiences. We would like to take this opportunity to reflect on challenges you faced, innovative solutions you may have developed, and discuss the lessons learned that could be applied in future teaching and learning scenarios – regardless of their delivery format.

Through a community of practice format, and based on the evidenced informed principles of reflective practice in teaching (Cambridge International Education, 2020), we will be facilitating roundtable breakout sessions so that instructors can dive deeper in discussing topics and experiences relevant to them, such as:

  • Delivering lectures in virtual environments
  • Final exams
  • Engaging remotely with students
  • Troubleshooting on the fly

We think it is important to start this series by not only recognizing the great work that was done in the Winter 2020 semester, but also connecting and sharing with one another so that we can continue to support each other in the future. This session will not be recorded so that we can facilitate open, honest, and productive discussions in a community of practice.
